In times of chaos, disorientation and bad storytelling, we have an invitation to root back into what was always ours. I began calling myself an “accidental mystic” after my life turned upside down by grief and I began fumbling in the dark for ritual, meaning, languages and symbolism to navigate the landscape. By way of creativity and opening to seen and unseen realms I began to find my way on the “pathless path”, feeling at home in the rhythm of the seasons, both internally and externally. Particular archetypes emerged and asked for me to lean in. With curiosity and wonder leading, I began to embrace the spiralic journey.

In this group journey container we will come together to move through four seasons of self, exploring archetypes, storytelling, creative inquiry and community wisdom. May, July, Sept + Nov.

Bring back the mystery—Tell wilder stories—Rekindle creative spark—Travel new mythic territories —

Each season we embrace a new cast of characters that represent the elements, energetic themes, and inner world we are moving through. Some of these archetypes may be familiar from stories or culture, others may be new. All of them are multifaceted, wise and ultimately a part of your unique self.

Our Modalities

Archetypal Exploration

There is only so far your mind and imagination can take you. Inquiry is good, but a mystic has a line to something more. By journeying beyond the conscious we can relate and receive from parts of ourselves we aren’t used to accessing. New landscapes, symbols and messages are free to emerge and become a part of the story.

Guided Journey

Our greatest gift it to not only be explorers of this vast universe, but also co-creators. In each season you’ll be offered rituals and creative rites to deepen the stories and themes you are working with. By alchemizing the tools of earth, myth and spirit we begin weaving, not just pulling at threads. What you will create from this journey will be unique and magical to you!

Creative Inquiry

I’m Ellen, an artist, tattoo guide, myth maker and earth explorer. I believe that there is a language of the universe that runs like sparkling veins. These veins run through culture and time and matter and surface like gold in nature, story, symbol, creative practice, and within ourselves. To be a hunter of this gold is to be one that notices and co-creates. I became an “Accidental Mystic” after profound loss and grief overturned the way I saw the world and sent me on a quest for meaning and belonging. I asked big questions and opened new eyes and ears. I have nothing figured out or answered, but I have found a way of moving through this world that feeds my soul. I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains with my partner in the town of Grass Valley. When I’m not creating tattoos, designing journeys, making art or dreaming into creative offerings, you can find me listening to 90s hard rock at the gym, playing liberty with my big black horse, Mac, or reading a new mythic tale. I truly believe their is no right or wrong way to be an accidental mystic, no uniform or badge or way of speaking, just an innate belonging to this beautiful vast universe and a curiosity for all the ways it speaks with us. You and are probably more alike than different and I’d be honored to journey with you!
